Heavykaraoke was developed in 2004 and it's a rock & metal party with great songs and brilliant performances.
We produce Heavykaraoke-DVD's and arrange Hevikaraoke nights all around Finland.
Hevikaraoke is sung on stage with lights and smoke and a cheering audience. We sometimes even have a moshpit. It's not a competition, it's just great fun!

1. HOW DID HEAVY KARAOKE START?
You may have heard heavy rock singing in karaoke at some festivals, but as an event for clubs it's a new thing all over the world. KSF started its Heavy Karaoke nights at Corner Bar, Helsinki, in October 2004. The huge success of the nights led to arranging Heavy Karaoke in other cities from the beginning of 2005. In October 2006 Hevikaraoke has permanent nights in 5 different cities and our location in Helsinki is Hevimesta Hellsinki, Hallituskatu 3.
2. HOW DOES HEAVY KARAOKE DIFFER FROM REGULAR KARAOKE?
The songs are picked from these genres: hard rock, metal, indie, punk and classic heavier rock. You don't hear evergreens of The Platters, disco, pop or or R&B during a Heavy Karaoke night. One key characteristic of Heavy Karaoke is that there's a strong feeling all the time. The performers act as they're on stage with a band, and the audience gives a similar response.
3. DO YOU HAVE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL SINGER TO PARTICIPATE?
Of course not! Heavy Karaoke is for everyone. The reason Heavy Karaoke often sounds better than regular karaoke is the fact, that when people really know their favourite songs, they perform better, even though they're not really singers. The feeling comes before singing skills. It's important just to let go and give your friends a good show. Of course, if you were born with the voice of Sebastian Bach, you can finally use it without having to think about your neighbours.
4. WHERE DO YOU GET THE BACKINGS FROM?
The backings come from a few American partners of KSF Karaoke Store, and we have our own production.
5. WHY DO YOU HAVE BON JOVI/AEROSMITH/DOORS/ETC. ON THE LIST?
Firstly, most of the songs are originally recorded and therefore normally better sounding sung by men. We wanted to have something a bit less heavy to get some women singing too. A night without girls is less fun, everyone knows that! Now, for our surprise, it has turned many times the other way around: we have real metal monsters doing 'You give love a bad name' while the girls do Pantera and Megadeth...
Secondly, we've tried to pick songs from bands that have represented the hard rock or heavy of their era. In the 80's you considered Europe a hard rock band, even though now they sound more a pop/rock-band. We consider some artists from the psychedelic era and early hard rock belong to the same family with pure metal bands. As long as they're not AOR or mainstream of their own era. And why do we have Meatloaf? Because it IS heavy to sing his songs!
6. DO YOU ADD REQUESTS TO THE SONGLIST?
You can always ask for new songs and we try to find them from our producers. Thank you for helping us to be the Heavy Rock & Metal Karaoke with the Largest and Best song list!
7. CAN I GET HEAVY KARAOKE TO MY OWN PARTY, EVENT OR FAVOURITE BAR?
You can book us from this site – but do it at least one month in advance. We take care of everything, including PA and lights. We won't come to your local pizzeria because this circus needs room.
8. WHERE CAN I GET HEAVY KARAOKE CD'S OR DVD'S?

9. WHEN DO YOU HAVE HEVIKARAOKE AT HEVIMESTA HELLSINKI?
We are at Hevimesta Hellsinki (Hallituskatu 3, Helsinki) every Wednesday and Friday 10pm-3:30am.
